Your opening gave the answer to whether he legitimately changed or not. Having been in the mental health field my entire career snd personally have interacted with others who have the three mental disorders you note. A key trait is master manipulation especially the borderline personality disorder. Feeling repentance could also be part of that as well as the dire self loathing he felt. For an untrained minister with his eye on Dahmers resurrection and redemption the undercurrent would be easy to miss. Do I believe everyone is worthy, of course. Only our creator knows his journey, soul plan and his afterlife. Who knows maybe he will return as a forensic psychiatrist or someone in partnership with a person with a personality disorder. The possibilities are endless. The larger question and disturbing fact is that it trends number 1 on Netflix. We love to cast blame, be disgusted by others behaviors, and stroke our own ego by saying we would never do that. Why are we fascinated by this apparent darkness? I have seen this series as a suggestion on Netflix and I pass right by. Why would I want to stay in the fear and low vibration that this brings into my psyche. Why would I want to put any attention and confirmation that this exists in our world? Am I living with rose colored glasses, of course not. I am responsible for who I hand with snd what I allow in.
