Yes Deepak! I was raised by a mother who had no ability to allow herself to feel. It was the unwritten rule in the family to deflect and distract and move on. My personal life challenges were tremendous and I literally kept moving on snd used a variety of escapes ie alcohol, relationships, food, shopping media etc. American culture is adept at pitching those distractions as the cornerstone of our lives when it is the polar opposite. We are experiencing the ‘great awakening’ the pandemic was our forced way to go deeper and for some the start of deeper awareness. Mine has been a life long journey of introspection and finally allowing suppressed emotion to be felt and released which has allowed increased EI, more peace, calm, trust and happiness. I have taught educators about EI and SEL after all we teach what we are learning! Thank you 💕
