Long ago I was certified as a Myers Briggs practitioner. I found Jung's and the mother/daughter duo's work fascinating and eerily accurate. Some try to debunk their methods but I find the test, research and the additional material to be a great in-road to understanding ourselves. BTW I am a ENFP. Definitely confirmed my personality. An interesting thing about Jung's teachings was we seek balance in our 4 letter type so for example when I tested in my cert. class I was a strong extravert 93 on the scale and my God it can be exhausting-LOL. As I have matured and time has passed I find myself seeking quiet, solitude and a need to go within. Jung theorized that we seek balance so someone that is a firm extravert will balance over time by becoming more introverted. In society we celebrate those who are extroverted as somehow better, more fun etc...when extroverts simply require their psychic energy from external sources while introverts simply go within to recharge. No one is less or better than anyone else. Each of us have chosen our personalities based on the learning we have chosen to do over a lifetime. I have a beloved friend who is an introvert and often says she wishes she could be as outgoing as me or able to speak publicly. I laugh with her about how demanding it is to be an extrovert. Everyone expects you to be "on" all the time and when I am quiet and introspective people think I am mad, sad etc...In society we need all types, all experiences, all perspectives and all energies. Thanks Andy!
